Are you a college graduate applying for work in BPO Philippines and wondering how to write a good resume, especially since this is your first?
Here are some tips on how to make a decent, professional resume to be submitted and evaluated with good chances for a callback.
Two Pages
A good resume that contains enough information about your abilities and experience should not be less than two pages, but it shouldn’t exceed 3 pages or else you’ll most likely bore the reader.
Remember: people will read your resume. Some might not be eager to read more than two pages of information. Two pages is a good length, just make sure you’ll be brief with the important details of yourself that make you a good fit for the job you’re applying for.
Place Education Section First
After your general information section (name, age, contact details), the education section should be at the beginning of your resume, since you're a recent college student graduate.
However if you have great internship, co-op or work experience closely related to the job you’re apply for, best to place your Experience section ahead of Education.
What else
If you don’t have much job-related experience to put in your resume, please don’t neglect the skills you gain from school activities or student jobs you’ve taken. Skills and experience are valuable, especially if it’s:
- A foreign-language you can speak fluently, i.e. Chinese, Japanese
- Studying abroad or conducting research, i.e. doing feasibility studies and market research
- Your computer and Internet expertise, i.e. blogging, video editing
- Extracurricular activities, i.e. managing events, fund-raising
In regards to your experience before college, employers aren't likely to care about this much.
There are exceptions, like if you’ve you won a national award, or you accomplished your own business enterprise in high school. Then you should highlight it, especially if it's connected to your chosen field.
Remember, that a resume highlights you as a person, as an individual with capabilities or potential, so best to express yourself the way that you think works honestly best for you and the information you're trying to relay in order to gain an entry level job in BPO Philippines.
