Japanese Government offers scholarships 2013
The Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC), Embassy of Japan, announces it is now open to accept applications for the 2013 Japanese Government scholarship.
Since 1954, the Government of Japan has made education in Japanese universities and other institutions accessible to about 3,000 Filipino students through the Japanese Government scholarships.
The scholarship aims to develop future leaders in the Philippines by granting outstanding Filipino students a chance to further pursue their studies in Japan.
These categories are open to all Filipino citizens that meet the requirements.
The scholarship categories are undergraduate, research, and special training.
• For undergraduate category, applicants should have 12 years of formal education, have good academic standing, between 17 and 21 years old, has five years study in the fields of Social Sciences, Humanities and Natural Sciences.
• For research category, the requirements for applicant are: 16 years of formal education, clear and feasible research proposal, good academic standing, must be under 35 years old, with one and a half to five years study in the fields of Social Sciences, Humanities and Natural Sciences.
• For special training category, the requirements for applicant are: 12 years of formal education with good academic standing, between 17 and 21 years old, and has three years study within the scope of Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, Nutrition, Infant Education, Secretarial Studies, Hotel Management, Tourism, Fashion, Dressmaking, Design, and Photography.
Application forms are available at the JICC Library in Manila, the Consular Offices of Japan in Cebu City and Davao City, or may be downloaded from the Embassy website www.ph.emb-japan.go.jp.
The deadline for submission of applications is on May 28.
The selection process is composed of several stages like document screening, written examinations, and interviews. Only selected applicants at each stage are notified for further instructions.

Free scholarship consultations are held at the library of the Embassy of Japan every Friday at 9 a.m. until noon, then 2:00 to 4:30 p.m.
Visitors are requested to bring a valid identification card to enter the embassy premises.
