Do you have it takes to make good SEO?

This age is the Internet society, where individuals, groups and organizations have an online presence such as websites, web pages and accounts on social networks.

With potentially millions of websites and pages establish in the Internet, search engines like Yahoo!, Google and Bing are a necessity to find and identify these sites. To improve a website's visibility or 'presence' online via these search engines is called Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

Employers and companies in BPO Philippines value people with good skills in SEO to help their brand--either products or services --have a stronger presence on the Internet, since there is a lot of competition.

SEO copywriters or specialists help product or services brands get higher rankings in search engines list by providing content and promoting the website so that it would have more visitors frequently visiting the website, learning more about the brand, talking about it and sharing with others.

SEO specialists generate content in the form of text (such as articles, news), images, videos, links as marketing strategy on the Internet. Optimizing a website can involve developing HTML and associated coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to overcome indexing limits of search engines.

The required skills an SEO specialist must have are knowledge on how search engines work, what people search for online, the actual search terms typed into search engines and which search engines are preferred. Other essential skills to be successful in this field are:

1. Knowing how Search Engines work. Search engines retrieve information. Search engines scour the Internet to retrieve and story key bits of information, guided by principles of precision and recall.

Taking advantage of the basics of search engines can help you trouble-shoot  site browsing  issues to grasping the various SEO trends and techniques.

2. Critical Thinking. To be able to question everything, to make decisions based on the best available evidence and information, and  being able to put everything in the proper context that would best benefit the website and the brand it represents.

3. Working with Mark-up Language. The Internet is made of web pages, documents marked up with HTML. Mark-up language  improves static content's readability and interpretation by browsers.

Most data interactivity on the Internet is done through mark-up language like HTML and XML.
Knowledge in scripting languages like PHP and ASP that generate mark-up is also useful but not necessary.

4. Writing and Editing Copy.  Copy is published written material which encourages readers' interest. Effective copy is readable, engaging and persuasive.

5. Research skills. Researching keywords and trendy topics that draw in readers is important. Knowing what grabs visitors' interests and what information they're looking for, and how to use this to your website's advantage pulls in browser traffic to your website.

6.  Good social skills. A good SEO Specialist first knows what they're 'selling' and who the target audience is, know the target audience's wants and needs in order to persuade to be interested, purchase, and participate.

7. Confident communication. Being able to communicate clearly is necessary, but being able to "sell" through one's content is even more essential. One sure test is being able to promote oneself, skills and experience  to potential employers. If one can't promote oneself well and with confidence, how can one expect to "sell" a brand online?

8. Organization and Discipline. Websites, in order to have a stable, solid presence online, must have a consistent yet dynamic content.

Thus, a good SEO campaign for a website is a long-term activity. A good SEO specialist is in it for the long run. This requires discipline and good organization, to sort and categorize content so that the website is never boring, catches up on current search trends and is up to date to keep visitors' interest keen.

9. Critical Eye for Design. A good SEO specialist is not only concerned for the written content but also know that a decent image is worth more than a thousand words. SEO specialists must know that good content wouldn't do much if the website itself is unattractive.

At the very least, the SEO specialist must ensure that the website design is neat to the visitor's eye, making it easy to read and hopefully enjoy the featured content.

If you can develop these nine skills, you can have a promising career as an SEO specialist, Website designer or copywriter in BPO Philippines.
