4 Ways to make your Resume a Winner!
The resume is an important document. When carelessly written, it can ruin your chances for employment, especiall in BPO Philippines where communication skills are vital.
It is essential then that before you send out your application and resume to your potential list of employers, double-check your resume and make sure it has these 4 key qualities to attract employers towards to calling you:
1. Proper spelling and grammar.
A professional's resume should have no spelling and grammar errors. Correct spelling and grammar indicates your communication skills as well as your attention to details. A neat, well-written resume presents you as a capable, careful communicator.
Remember to write in active voice and use action verbs.
2. Be specific.
Employers need to understand what you've done in terms of related work and specifically what you've accomplished as a professional. It is good and interesting for potential employers if you highlight for them your accomplishments, rather than focus too much on your regular duties.
When stating the objective of your job application, be specific and align your objective to what the employers are looking for when they put out the job advertisement. "Eager to work for top-ranking company that offers challenging opportunities and fast professional development" is too vague.
Better is "A senior developer position to design and analyze software applications for business/financial solutions."
3. Be brief and neat.
Clearly list out your general contact information, education and training, past work experience and professional accomplishments in no more than 2 pages.
Just use one type of font in your resume. Make sure it's readable and easy on the eyes.
4. IMPORTANT: Make sure the contact information is current and updated.
Re-check contact details to make sure that the landline number, mobile phone and email address are the ones you are currently using. You could lose opportunities just because your contact information isn't updated.
Apply these four tips in revising your resume and application letter and your chances to getting hired and working in the promising, fast-rising industry of BPO Philippines will increase to favorable results.
