Looking for work? Sending out resumes and applications and attending job interviews yet still no follow up calls and meetings?

Don't have work? Then don't just sit at home and sulk. Get up and get busy. Get busy enough, and you might find yourself in a job sooner, than waiting.

Don't worry about being unemployed. Make this the right time for you to develop yourself as a person, and a professional.

Unemployment is not vacation time. It can be an opportunity to do some form of work that can earn you experience and credibility.

Using this 'free' time, can allow one to be  involved in one's own self-development one's family, community or organization can lead to gaining new skills, new knowledge, develop new contacts and further experience.

There are many activities one can do while being unemployed and looking for work: tutoring, volunteering; teaching/coaching; studying/learning new computer programs; studying foreign languages; or pursuing temporary, freelance or contract work or business.

Get involved in your nearest non-government organization's activities: fund-raising or resources management.

Volunteer in your child's school as chaperon or in the PTA.

Do research on the Internet. Apply for short-term online freelance work.

Enroll in a technical course. Start your own small business. It can get big enough to support you.

Exercise, get yourself physically fit. Join a gym and make new friends. Who knows, they can help you find work.

Despite being unemployed, you can still create opportunities and achievements that can look good on your resume. Knowledge and experience is still attractive, regardless of whether it was acquired through employment or not.

Don’t belittle your experiences, in work or not. Take full credit, even for small personal achievements.

Be proactive and remain positive on what you've strived for and achieved during unemployment. This demonstrates perseverance, resourcefulness and diligence which can be attractive to any employer.
