Philippines: The Place-to-be for IT pros

Everyone has their eyes out for 'greener' pastures, but for Information Technology professionals in the Philippines, the grass is greener here in the Asia-Pacific region than in the United States and Europe where employers are tight against cost.

According to tech jobs portal ITProsAsia.com, salaries and compensation packages for IT jobs in the country are now very competitive compared to the West.

Filipinos are the preferred choice because of their adaptability to the Western culture and languages.

Filipino professional who migrate to other countries would have to deal with higher living expenses, compared to that of here in the Philippines. Developing regions like Southeast Asia can offer more opportunities for IT workers.

Salary data from CBS Interactive support this claim as entry-level call center agents in the Philippines, averagely earn at least US$300(PhP13, 000), US$50 more than their counterparts in India.

An IT managerial position with less than five years of experience earns PhP23,000 a month while a Project Manager can receive as much as PhP28,000.

Other jobs like Systems Developer, Communications Specialist, Support Specialist/Agent and Administrative staff get roughly the same salaries, with higher figures depending on experience and job performance.

Multinationals, such Accenture, AT&T and JPMorgan Chase have set up facilities in the Philippines, and more large companies are expected to follow through the next decade.

Why look for opportunities outside when the companies in the US and Europe are moving bases here in BPO Philippines?
