Want to get promoted and succeed in BPO Philippines?
Start by evaluating your professional life and see how you go about your day to day at the office. Are you a model employee and co-worker who produce results and a pleasure to work with, or not?
Make a list and check that you may have common bad work habits. To identify them is the first step to break them before they ruin your chances for upward movement.
Are you being Personal, instead of Professional?
Do you make regular excuses to be late or take leave after lunch because of personal, non-life threatening emergencies? Do you often request colleagues to fill in for you or cover for you? Do you help co-workers, in exchange for favors you use for your own personal benefit? Do you complain loudly when the boss requests you to work overtime on an important task?
If yes is your answer to all these questions, then you're not being a true professional at the office. Pulling in personal favors in exchange for assistance that you're basically obligated to give co-workers in the same department doesn't put you in a good light. Do take the trouble once in awhile to help your colleague, more so the boss, as long as it doesn't affect your own responsibilities.
Do you take care of your appearance, health and hygiene?
Going to the office with a poor appearance will look bad on your image and others' impression of you, reducing your credibility.
If your hygiene is bad, if you're untidy on self and on your desk, this also reduces confidence in your abilities. Bad hygiene can also indicate unhealthy diet or habits like smoking and drinking. Break these habits. Through proper eating and exercise, you'll have more energy to be productive at work. The promotion would be well in your grasp.
Do you enjoy your work? Do you exhibit positive energy in your office?
When you are enthusiastic about what you do, happy while you're doing your job, people take notice and appreciate that, especially the boss.
As you take pride in your job by presenting yourself well, communicating clearly and doing your best work, you also foster positive vibes in your co-workers and employees.
Enthusiasm can be contagious, and a key quality for a manager or executive.
Do you come Late to Work and Meetings?
People who show up minutes late for work or a meeting can throw off tasks and schedules. This breeds impatience in colleagues and employers when they don't see things start on time and progress accordingly. Lateness gives a bad impression on your competence.
Manage yourself and your time. Master yourself, and you'll be a Master in no time.
Do you plan your today the day before?
When you sit down in the office, do you consume your first hour figuring what you should work on today?
Be more efficient and plan/schedule your tasks tomorrow before you leave work today. Just a little preparation can get you to complete assignments earlier and can actually lighten your load every day. This gives you time to relax and plan for the next day, or even better take more assignments to assist your boss or colleagues, making you more of an asset to your department or company.
Don't let bad habits ruin your chances to having a better career. Self-evaluation of these common weaknesses and working your best to improve them will increase the chances in your favor to succeed in BPO Philippines.
