Protect your Career Chances

Prevent career suicide and not ruin your chances for continuous employment in BPO Philippines by not doing any of the following negative habits or practices in your workplace or in your social circles.

Avoiding these could mean the difference between a health career and a dead one.

Dishonesty

When you lie, you lose professional credibility. It is dishonest when you exaggerate on your resume or falsify excuses or other documentation.

Trust is essential, don't ruin it yourself by making a habit of lying when you're trying to cover up a mistake or attracting advantage in a project.

Recall Proverbs 12:18-19: "Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment."

Disrespect, lack of Professionalism

Inquiring about your colleagues' personal life and sharing your personal life can be considered unprofessional and inappropriate in the workplace.  There must be certain decorum to be followed among co-workers. There is a proper time and a proper place for anything.

Especially when you gossip or excessively criticize co-workers, bosses, competitors in public, this negative behavior will bring you trouble as you 'damage' others, you're only damaging yourself.

Since industries are tightly knit, everyone knows everyone, so its can actually easy to point out who said what about who.  Remember Proverbs 11:12-13

"A man who lacks judgment derides his neighbor, but a man of understanding holds his tongue. A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret."

Being socially irresponsible, living in Excess

Vices such as over partying, excessive drinking and gambling can trouble you as a person and as a professional. Getting drunk during the office party or on a business trip damages your integrity and image.

As well as getting too personally involved with co-workers, leading to intimate relationships. Don't be careless, and maintain a strong discipline on your personal life so as it would not affect your professional life.

Burning bridges

When you leave a job for a new opportunity, give a proper notice or resignation as well as adequate time and assistance to locate and train your replacement. Don’t leave a mess behind. And when you quit, don't make it a drama with cursing, slandering and worse, throwing and destroying office property.

Leaving on good terms with your old employer allows the opportunity for coming back in case the new job doesn't work out. Keep building bridges, never burn.

Evade these pitfalls in the workplace or anywhere else and you'll be sure to enjoying the success and rewards of being fully employed and financially secure with more promising career opportunities in BPO Philippines
