The world is spending money, again.
In BPO Philippines, the outsourcing sector remains to be the main employer in Cebu for the last couple of years. In 2012, the province's employment outlook is expected to rebound as the manufacturing sector is gearing up.
Blue-collar jobs will be the employment opportunity for 2012 as Cebu prepares for the influx of manufacturing related investment that would further boost the local economy.
Garments, toys, and house wares, and other items produced by the manufacturing sector are expected to register good growth by next year.
The Philippines is an attractive option for investors and is competing with other Southeast Asian investment destinations in manufacturing such as Vietnam, among others.
The country's advantages: good financial environment, streamlining of business processes—which makes it easy for enterprises to transact business are among the many attractions the Philippines has to offer to gain more manufacturing investments.
Tourism is also one promising source of employment this coming 2012 as more tourists are expected to visit the country, particularly the island provinces
Also, the Philippines' BPO-IT sector will need thousands of skilled personnel in 2012, as call centers, high-value outsourcing firms like JP Morgan and Chase, Accenture, NCR, Lexmark, among others announce plans for expansion.
BPO/IT players are reporting good business growth despite the economic slowdown in two economic giants in the world, the United States and Europe.
The slowdown provide more opportunities for outsourcing to countries like the Philippines, as enterprises embrace outsourcing as a measure not only to maintain control over cost but also acquire access to quality talent and creative innovation.
Hailed as the Call Center King, Cebu remains to be the ideal destination for multinational services providers, with its universities and colleges. Companies invest in training and developing the potential of human resources in the province.
In 2012, Cebu’s BPO/IT sector will shift forward to more higher-value services, in the Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) and ITO (Information Technology Outsourcing)
Employment opportunities will be available for highly-educated/certified professionals, such as accountants, lawyers, technical and business consultants, graphic designers, content developers, doctors, radiologists, and other licensed professionals.
Demand for BPO services will surge as multinationals implement control in costs while attain efficiency in operations.
In Cebu's Business Park and IT Park, present facilities are now employing over 35,000 workers. A 20 percent increase in workforce is expected in 2012 for BPO Philippines.
