In every social group, there will always be 'politics'; it is the human ritual where roles and responsibilities are either achieved or assigned. This is most true in an office or workplace, where understanding the social craft of politicking is important.

"Office politics" can be defined as the use of one's individual or assigned position within an organization to obtain advantages beyond one's legitimate authority.

Those who engage in office politics do it to gain financial, emotional and even physical rewards.

Those who engage the most vigorously often have significant unmet needs, a specific agenda, desire for power with the willingness to abandon ethics and integrity to get what they want.

Globe, Aegis set up trilingual call center in Cebu

Cebu, BPO Philippines. To provide personalized, quality customer service for its massive subscriber bases in the Visayas and Mindanao, Globe Telecom sets up the very first Bisaya-speaking call center with Aegis Philippines.

The call center company Aegis will initially designate at least 50 agents to serve Globe’s customers in the Visayas and Mindanao.

Skills Gap Narrowing between Cebu's Academe and BPO

The government and the private sectors in Cebu cooperate together to push the growth of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) investments. 

There's a need for the local academe to improve skills of its human resource capital, i.e. the students and graduates.  This will foster employability in high value niches up the outsourcing value chain.

Recent skills assessment tests have shown that the graduates from the local academe are meeting the expertise requirements of the globalized BPO industry.

In a report released by the Cebu Investments and Promotions Center (CIPC) the skills of human capital supplied by the academe has improved, a tangible result of the skill development initiatives applied by Cebu City.

At least 11 universities in Cebu offer IT courses, assuring of appropriate skills and the interplay of human and software.

There are also internationally accredited software learning centers in Cebu to provide specialized, advanced training. These include; Cisco Networking Academies, Microsoft Certified Specialist Training Centers and an Oracle Programming Academy.

The province aims to keep its ranking in the Top 10 IT Outsourcing global destination, through investments in infrastructure and continuous development of organizations, human resources and policies in BPO Philippines.
